Ayesha Usman is a visual artist and calliigrapher of South Asian descent, originally from Pakistan, where she completed her Master's degree in at the University of the Punjab. In 2014, she relocated to Canada with her family, driven by a lifelong passion for the arts.
With two decades of experience as a calligrapher and visual artist, her work shows devotion to calligraphy, not simply as a decorative element but as a living, breathing art form. Her paintings have become more than art pieces, they are meditations shaped through ink, rhythm, and intention. Her connection to Quranic language and stories adds a powerful dimension to her art, linking her identity to her work..
Her practice is rooted in contemporary mixed-media exploration, blending materials, textures, vibrant colors, and layered compositions to create visually engaging and works. Employing a multi-layered technique, she gradually builds each piece, allowing every surface mark to contribute depth and significance. Each layer tells its own story, revealing emotions and over time.
Through her art, she strives to harmonize aesthetic beauty with conceptual depth, crafting immersive pieces that inspire curiosity and foster dialogue between the artwork and the audience.
This 48x48-inch acrylic painting uses many cool blue colors like turquoise, cobalt, and dark blue tones. In the center, the Darood is written in beautiful Tuluth script calligraphy, creating the main focus of the artwork. Around the calligraphy, the canvas is filled with detailed Islamic tile design inspired by traditional Islamic art and architecture. The repeating patterns and shapes give the painting a peaceful and balanced feeling. The blue tones create a calm, spiritual mood, while the detailed designs adds depth and beauty. The painting combines both traditional islamic architecture and a deep sense of spirituality, inviting quiet reflection and peace.
