Manar Sultan | Heritage Bloom

Manar blends digital and traditional techniques into mixed media artwork, reimagining Arabic and Islamic folklore and storytelling through visual form. Curiosity drives the practice, shifting between mediums. Based in Ontario, Canada, Manar comes from a background across animation, photography, and design. These disciplines eventually came together to form this throughline, continuing to push that fusion further.

 

I build every piece digitally first, precise and controlled, then break that control on purpose by hand painting and roughing it, until it feels handmade and touched, something only a human hand can give it
Colour and light are what pull me in. I'm after movement caught in the moment before it settles into something still. I get there through close observation, looking past what's obvious to find what's actually there.
What matters is getting people to slow down and notice the small, unseen details that usually get missed.
