Shazia Naseem | Portal 1
Shazia is a self-taught artist inspired by Islamic culture, sacred architecture, and Quranic calligraphy. Her journey began with an admiration for Arabic script and grew into a spiritual practice, where each stroke reflects remembrance of the Divine. Influenced by Sufi thought, she seeks to capture presence and meaning in her work. By layering line, color, and texture, Shazia transforms calligraphy into living forms that celebrate faith and Islamic heritage.
“Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. In Him I put my trust. And He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.” ( Surah At-Tawbah 9:129).
Portal1: is a tribute to my sister, whose life was guided by faith and grace. Inspired by the mosque of Thatta, Pakistan, its blues, golds, and geometric patterns reflect the light and spirit she carried.
Though born from grief, this radiates a quiet hope, offering a space where memory and spirit meet, a reminder that love and faith transcend time and place.Though born from grief, Portal of Light radiates a quiet hope, offering a space where memory and spirit meet—a reminder that love and faith transcend time and place.
