Shazia Naseem | Portal 2
Shazia is a self-taught artist inspired by Islamic culture, sacred architecture, and Quranic calligraphy. Her journey began with an admiration for Arabic script and grew into a spiritual practice, where each stroke reflects remembrance of the Divine. Influenced by Sufi thought, she seeks to capture presence and meaning in her work. By layering line, color, and texture, Shazia transforms calligraphy into living forms that celebrate faith and Islamic heritage.
Portal 2: Inspired by a door in Fez, Morocco, this piece reflects the elegance and depth of Islamic heritage and architectural design. The intricate geometry and calligraphic patterns evoke a sense of reverence, inviting viewers to see the doorway as a passage into reflection, faith, and timeless artistry.
The doorway at its center represents a threshold, not only to physical spaces but to reflection, faith, and spiritual presence.
