Zakia Nadir | Echoes in Pink - Mohatta Palace
Zakia Nadir is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and a graphic designer. She is Canadian and Pakistani and her work explores the connection between culture, imagination, storytelling and visual expression. She is inspired by cultural mughal art, folklore, renaissance and modernism art and loves working with paints, chalk pastels, pen and ink and markers.
Her creative philosophy is “Imagination, Ideation, Creation,” this is a reflection of her belief that every artwork begins with an idea and evolves through imagination and creative exploration. With a background in Fine Art, Typography, and Graphic Design, Zakia Nadir tries to bring both artistic and design perspectives to her practices.
She is also passionate about teaching and inspiring young artists to create art using their imagination and inspiration. This art piece is a tribute to Karachi, where I was born. Even though I lived in Canada most of my life as I moved here when I was in grade 5 but some places stay long after we leave them. Karachi is one of them for me. This painting is my little love letter to Karachi—a way of holding on to a piece of where I come from and bringing its beauty with me through art. I love the architecture and the iconic beautiful pink stones used.
